With over 1.7 million sq ft of new development, the East Harlem M/E/C Center is sure to create many exciting opportunities for the residents of the area. The East Harlem M/E/C Center will draw a variety of new office users, retail tenants and area residents, creating great options for people of East Harlem and New York City as a whole.

The East harlem M/E/C Center will have major economic and social impacts. Here are just a few:

  • Generate approximately 2,500 full-time permanent jobs and 4,300 construction jobs
  • The East Harlem M/E/C Center project will result in significant and ongoing economic benefits through City and State tax revenues
  • The M/E/C Center will create a destination that will act as a powerful catalyst to bring visitorsto the East Harlem Area.
  • Investment in the local community through a Local Green Space Capital Fund and a Local Investment fund.

Housing
The focus of our phased hosuing development is that it is both appropriately designed and priced for the families of East Harlem. Approximately 800 housing units will be built, with an emphasis on two- and three-bedroom units to promote family occupancy.

The residential areas will be located on the eastern and northern portions of the overall site, to take advantage of quieter streets, easterly water views and proximity to riverfront parks. Residents will be given access to rooftop gardens, play areas and other amenities throughout the complex including a residents-only fitness center, central laundry facilities, on-site superintendents and landscaped courtyards.

Retail
Local and specialty/entertainment retailers will occupy the street level storefronts providing residents with relevant and community-based shopping options. Major retailers will occupy spaces on the second and third levels with entrance lobbies providing access from the street level.

At the heart of the development is an urban plaza on which storefronts will be occupied by specialty and entertainment outlets such as restaurants, coffee shops and music venues.

Office
Located on the corner of East 125th St and Third Ave, the office component of the project will consist of different sized floors offering flexibility for tenants who will occupy the space. The entire office building will be built with a high technology infrastructure, suitable for the modern media tenants envisioned as occupants.

Hotel
A hotel of approximately 150 rooms is proposed adjacent to the office building and will serve business visitors to the office tenants, as well as tourists and families of local residents. The main hotel lobby will be at street level and will be complemented by retail space for restaurants and other uses attractive to hotel guests.

Parking
To make the retail and residential areas as inviting as possible, parking will be available in the areas below the development structures.
